We visited a textile factory with rows and rows of machines knitting gloves for humanoid robots.
I spent the last week scrambling to buy a few inexpensive components before I return to the States and need to pay for shipping. I also thought I could design and order PCB art boards I left, but I ran out of time.
I spent my last two days in Hong Kong. I had signed up to visit Mai Po, a wildlife refuge in the wetlands just across from Shenzhen. For the month I was on the Shenzhen side, I kept walking around places I thought would be near the coast to see birds, but instead would start seeing tall fences with barbed wire. I’d take the hint and not use my binoculars and cameras.
Now that I was finally on the Hong Kong side, it was incredible! I’ve never seen so many different kinds of birds in one place. Herons and egrets and spoonbills and greenshanks and wigeons. It was a perfect way to summarize birding in that part of the world before leaving Asia.
And then I flew back to Boston, and it was… 9 degrees Fahrenheit with a -1 wind chill. But the memory of a vegetarian burrito motivated me to trek to Pepita anyway.
